Objective: To help gardeners recognize and practice using different "Gardening Tools" that support Confidence, Creativity, and Calm in a fun and engaging way.
Materials Needed:
Small bag or container
Slips of paper with different "gardening tools" written on them (examples below)
A space for discussion and reflection
Preparation:
Write down different coping strategies, positive habits, or mindful exercises on slips of paper. Fold them and place them inside a bag or container.
Label the container as the "Gardening Tool Grab Bag."
Examples of Gardening Tools: 🌱 Confidence Boosters: Positive self-talk, practicing a skill, standing tall, setting and achieving a small goal, celebrating effort, trying something new. 🌸
Creativity Enhancers: Drawing, writing a story, playing music, building something, solving a fun
puzzle, exploring a new idea. 🍃 Calming Strategies: Deep breathing, stretching, mindfulness, listening to calming music, going outside, visualization exercises.
How to Play:
Gather participants in a circle or small group.
One at a time, each person pulls a slip of paper from the Gardening Tool Grab Bag.
They read the tool aloud and share:
How they think it helps a gardener grow Confidence, Creativity, or Calm.
A time they used (or could use) this tool in their own life.
After discussing, they can choose to act it out or give an example of how to use the tool.
Continue until everyone has had a turn, then reflect as a group on which tools they found most useful.
Reflection Questions:
Which gardening tool do you use the most? Which one would you like to use more?
How do these tools help keep our gardens (minds) healthy?
What are some other tools we can add to the grab bag?
Just like a real garden, our emotional gardens need care and attention. The more we use these tools, the easier it becomes to manage our weeds and help our flowers grow! 🌱✨
