It is a great delight to highlight the remarkable and extraordinary school district of South Plainfield, NJ, in today's School Spotlight.
The journey began in June of 2024 at the end of the last school year when Mary DeGregorio, School Counselor, MSEd, MEd at Roosevelt Elementary School, reached out about organizing an assembly during their Week of Respect in the fall of 2024. Mary’s enthusiasm for our #PullYourWeeds® Program inspired her to collaborate with her fellow school counselors throughout the South Plainfield School District.
In October and November, we had the honor of presenting assemblies at all four outstanding elementary schools, reaching over 1,400 students collectively. Engaging with an entire school district fosters a sense of community and allows us to collectively plant seeds of positive change.
It was incredibly special to meet and connect with each school’s administration, experiencing the warm and nurturing environments they create for their students and staff. In addition, the school district received a private weblink for their staff, providing access to numerous resources and activities to help cultivate the You Are a Gardener® mindset in their classrooms.
It is always so wonderful when Gardner Anna helps with an assembly! It is a beautiful connection for the students to see what it's like growing up a gardener!
The district also participated in our Keep It Growing Book campaign, collectively raising $150 for their schools through book sales, which is another wonderful way to support our programs at home. We are immensely thankful to Mary and her dedicated team of counselors for their unwavering support and efforts in making each assembly a success.
We appreciate all the positive feedback we have received and look forward to where this initiative will flourish next. Thank you once again, South Plainfield School District... you are all gardeners!
